1st time mom and newborn approved! Spent hundreds on huggies...We have used the cloth diaper shells and inserts during the daytime at home for 3months now (our newborn was 8lb21inch). They're soft, absorbent, flexible and don't irritate/rub stomach or legs. No diaper rash or discomfort - they grow with the baby thanks to the sizing buttons. Easy to keep sanitary and stain free: Liners go on top of shells, and once soiled get a quick handwash. Soiled liners and shells are kept in separate wetbags during the day.

Every night, liners get the Sanitize cycle in the washer, and every 2days the shells get the Normal cycle in laundry wash bags to protect the buttons -we always use free and clear detergent. Dry cycle medium heat. No stains/color fading/damage to the seams or stitching. We have 2 sets of 6 shells with 24 3layer inserts plus 6 5-layer bamboo inserts (never any blowouts outside of the shells!): baby uses about 12 liners and 3 shells per day.

I started using these cloth diapers when my kiddo was around 1 month old (at the smallest diaper setting, she was around 8-9 lbs). At 4 months old, we have moved up a row of snaps, and I still love these diapers! They have saved us so much money by switching from disposables. The frequent washing has worn the fabric of the interior, but that is to be expected - they are used and then washed every other day - and it hasn't impacted my baby's comfort or the use of the diaper. I have been using thin disposable liners on top to catch the solids, anyway (so I don't have to spray it).

Leaks: happen on very rare occasions, usually when she floods pee out the back while sleeping, and isn't a big problem. Poop leaks only happened when the diaper was not snapped to the correct settings for her size and she happened to squirm too much. The same situations have occurred with disposables and compostables and cloth diapers!

I do prefer using the bamboo inserts over the microfiber, as the bamboo is easier on my hands while stuffing them into the pocket diaper after washing, and I think they may absorb a little bit better than the microfiber inserts.

I’ve been using these diapers for about 3 months now. I was very hesitant to cloth diaper at first, but these were such a good price that I bought the least expensive pack of diapers to give them a go. I immediately preferred them over disposable diapers, mainly because they were so soft compared to disposables! I had never thought about how uncomfortable it must be to have that scratchy papery material against your skin, especially as a new little baby.

I recently got these diapers because I am a mother of twins and buying disposable diapers constantly for more than one child on a very frequent basis is a lot of money and time consuming to keep going back-and-forth to the store so I looked into cloth diapers and honestly it was the best decision I ever made, I also bought a apartment washing machine which I will review that as well and it is wonderful because I can just use the diapers and if you buy these with the bamboo inserts you have super absorbency and it is way better than the disposable diapers because honestly when I had the disposable diapers I kept going through leaks constantly ... particularly with the Huggies brand ... it's like no matter how many times I change the diaper one poop or one pee that contained enough couldn't even hold in the diaper, it would leak through the side no matter how tight I put it on & obviously I wasn't trying to restrict my kids movement or blood circulation with tight diapers ... these I could adjust them nicely & the cloth would soak up everything immediately ... any bowel movement or urination ... and I don't have to worry about it leaking.

Honestly I think the only way it will leak is if it's too loose but if you put it on correctly and make sure that the circumference around their leg is firm but breathable then you will have no issues. It is a smart investment if you want to save time and money.

We started cloth diapering at 15 months because our kiddo was down to 7 diapers a day and 1 nap. I figured it was worth an investment since we still have a year or so of diapering ahead of us and it never hurts to save money, but you could certainly start earlier. I purchased a single diaper to try them at night then bought these when I realized they would 1) save us a lot in the long run to switch over for daytime and 2) weren't that hard to clean up. And I'm so happy I made the switch!

We use the double inserts for night and nap, (that gets us a 3-hour nap) and single inserts for hanging out (mostly) at home. I still use disposables when we go out for a field trip because I don't want to haul around wet diapers, but it's reduced the number we buy by a great deal (maybe 2/day).

To clean: I scrape any solids into the toilet, hose off residue and hand wash each diaper in hot water after each use and sometimes use dawn dish soap if there's a stain/difficult to remove residue and hang until night. I do this immediately after each use. Then at night I wash them all cold water with an enzyme-free detergent and hang dry. Sometimes in that wash I do a soak in baking soda or vinegar rinse to pull out any bad smell and always an extra rinse in the end to get all of the detergent out of them. I huff the diapers to make sure they don't smell like anything so we don't risk a detergent rash.
